WEEKLY TIMETABLE OF EVENTS
PROJECT " BUTTERFLY CLUB "
We have enlarged the oportunity for pre-school kids in the centre since January 2006 in the Salesian`s Centre in Teplice. We have opened the Butterfly Club, which is financed by NROS and Pomozte dětem (Help Children charity organisation).
The club is aimed at working with children aged 4 to 6 using special methods to make improvements in their social andemotional interaction, motor and communication skills. We are trying to offer a special care for kids which are not attending any pre-school establishments or from a poorer social-cultural environment, so with this care they are able to minimize the differences and advantages that other kids have.
The meetings are arranged twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.00 to 11.30 a.m., or individually according to their current needs with the cooperation of the logopaedie specialist.
This project is financed from the collection project called Pomozte dětem! (Help Children), organized together with Foundation for development of civil society and Czech television.
SPECIAL CLASSES WITH LOGOPAEDIE CARE
Special classes are aimed at preparation for school activities such as writing homework and learning. Children come mostly regularly to write their homework here, or with assitance they learn and prepare for a test. From this need a special project Learning Programme appeared, where the Salesian`s Youth Centre in Ostrava is cooperating with us.
Obtaining a specialist in logopaedie we opened new classes where light clutterings can be improved.
PROJECT "LEARNING PROGRAMME"
Project Learning Programme, which began within Phare 2003 RLZ – provision 2.1 Intergation of social groups endangered by social exclusion, has been on since April 2005, and due to its principles is connected with our special classes. Our target is to offer children the help to manage their school work. The main principals are individual approach, certain timetable, room for special children and motivation by their own success to achieve a higher interest in education. Partner of this project is Salesian` s Youth Centre in Ostrava.
Since the beginning of the project over 40 children have joined it. The main atribute is to start cooperation with the local primary school, where the children go. The good cooperation with Class teachers who are involved in this project has broken the barrier between the communication between the Centre and School and enabled us to achieve the trust and feedback.
Special classes are attended by Romanie children as well. We consider it a great success as the children come voluntarily, they enjoy the classes and their results at school have improved.
FOR TOWN
These activities lead children to the interest in the environment they live in. They learn to feel the responsibility for it, i.e. during the common tidying up of the area where they live, it is common work but a joy and fun to do too.
TOUCHTYPING AND COMPUTERS
Working with computers is one of the most requested and favourite activities of our children. This club is always full no matter what age the kids are. They learn and improve their basic knowledge about using the computer such as Word, using the Internet, sending emails etc. Professional computer learning programmes are used too for improving the school needed knowledge.
We have received a professional learning programme for touchtyping. Using an interesting method they are learning touchtyping, gaining good results and they can enter the competitions. This is a useful preparation for their future carrier.
GAME ROOM AND OTHER CLUBS
Game room (in Salesian`s terminology Oratorium) is the most important meeting point. Most of the common activities are done here and the place is always open for children when the centre is open.
We are open every day except Wednesdays from 12.30 to 18.00 and on Fridays till 17.00.
In hobby groups we are trying to envolve certain skills and abilities of children and youth. The attendance is not compulsory or regular, as our children have problem with keeping time, but we are emphesizing the variety of activities giving them freedom to chose what they want in the moment of chosing.
But our main aim is a meaningful spending of the free time of children and youth, improvement of their skills and abilities, gaining new knowledge, meeting peers and their personal growth. Skills gained in clubs are presented to the public during special events such as dancing and music perfomances, sports events, sports tournaments, different competitions etc.
SPORT
Our motto is „A healthy person can live only in a healthy body“ and therefore we are taking every possibility to do sports. In winter we go cross-country skiing, in summer swimming but most often children play their favourite floorball (like Ice Hockey but without the ice and skates) or wallclimbing on the special wall, which is built in the centre. At the moment we are experimenting with a bodybuilding club.
SYSTEM OF MOTIVATION AND SAVING SYSTEM „SPOŘÍNEK“
Know-how of our centre is based in the motivational system where children can reach points for certain activities. They can influence the number of the points by their interest and diligence and gain many advantages. They are also aware of the possibility of losing points when they break the rules which are set.
There is another way how to teach children to deal with money and the values of it. If they want to attend an event, which their parents cannot afford to pay for, they can go there by meeting all the conditions that are set before, which is the main principle of so called Spořínek.
ONE DAY AND MULTI DAYS EVENTS
We are arranging one day or multi day events such as trips, camps, special programmes for summer holidays called Summer in the Block of Flats for children at weekends, during public and summer holidays.
BREAKDANCE
We have received a great success in dancing competitions and different festivals due to our boys breakdance group J.N.S. Our girls are very good at a special dance called čardáš or in a modern dance. Our dancing performance have become a part of nearly every cultural event in Teplice.
DRAMA CLUB
A drama club, called by kids „herečák“, is a new activity, which immediately became popular after its start. Children fulfill themselves there and present their success with joy.
ART CLUB
Within the art club relaxation, development of creativity, fantasy, independence and cooperation are offered. We are using different art techniques, methods and the works are presented to public during special events such as parents meeting, and they are the permanent decoration of our centre.
MUSIC GROUP AND SINGING
Children can develop their music and rythmic skills in our music group once a week. During the 2-hour lesson they can practice rythmic union on bongas. But there is a regular activity, which takes place after special classes, singing and playing. After a year‘s training children have gained great progress.
